__TOC__

== 1. Purpose ==
''AnglicanWiki'' exists to provide a collaborative, encyclopedic resource for the Anglican tradition. Its mission is to preserve Anglican memory, explain Anglican doctrine and practice, and serve clergy, laity, and students who wish to learn more about the Church.

== 2. Confessional Point of View ==
Unlike Wikipedia, ''AnglicanWiki'' does not attempt to write from a position of complete neutrality. Articles are written from ''within'' the Anglican tradition, affirming its historic continuity with the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.

* ''AnglicanWiki'' affirms the '''Anglican Church in North America (ACNA)''' and the '''Reformed Episcopal Church (REC)''' as authentic and canonical expressions of American Anglicanism.
* ''AnglicanWiki'' recognizes the orders and witness of the '''Continuing Anglican churches''' (e.g., ACC, APA, UECNA, APCK) and seeks to document them with fairness and charity.
* ''AnglicanWiki'' acknowledges the global Anglican Communion and the faithfulness of the Global South, while also being honest about the serious theological divisions that exist today.

== 3. Boundaries ==
To preserve its confessional integrity, ''AnglicanWiki'' will not present as authentically Anglican those teachings or practices which contradict the classical Anglican formularies. In particular, ''AnglicanWiki'' does not promote:
* The blessing of same-sex unions or the ordination of practicing homosexuals.
* The ordination of women to the presbyterate or episcopate.
* Doctrines contrary to the '''Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion''', the '''Book of Common Prayer''' (especially 1662 and classical Prayer Books), and the '''historic episcopate'''.

Such innovations will be described historically and factually but not commended as Anglican doctrine or practice.

== 4. Diversity Within Anglicanism ==
''AnglicanWiki'' recognizes legitimate diversity within the Anglican tradition, including:
* '''Evangelical Anglicanism'''
* '''Anglo-Catholicism'''
* '''Reformed Episcopal witness'''
* '''Broad Church / Classical Anglicanism'''

Articles should present these perspectives fairly, noting areas of divergence, while affirming their place within the Anglican family.

== 5. Scholarly Integrity ==
* Sources should be cited wherever possible, with preference for '''primary texts''' such as the Prayer Books, Articles, Homilies, canons, and conciliar documents.
* Disputed matters should be described with balance and clarity, representing positions accurately.
* ''AnglicanWiki'' is not a platform for polemics but for preserving Anglican teaching and history.

== 6. Contributors ==
* Editors are expected to respect ''AnglicanWiki''’s purpose and boundaries.
* Contributions should be made in a spirit of charity, with a commitment to truthfulness.
* ''AnglicanWiki'' is a service to the Church, not a battleground. Its goal is to '''build up the Body of Christ''' through clarity, faithfulness, and learning.
