1928 BCP/Ordo and Service Planner
1928 BCP Ordo and Service Planner
This resource helps clergy, lay readers, musicians, and parish administrators find the appointed observance for a date and prepare Holy Communion, Morning Prayer, and Evening Prayer from the American 1928 Book of Common Prayer.
It is a planner, not a replacement for the Prayer Book. Where the Prayer Book permits a choice, the choice is shown. Where a rule has not been verified, the page says so instead of presenting an interpretation as law.
What is here
- 1928 BCP/Guide to the two Office lectionaries — why there are
two Daily Office lectionaries, and which one this planner shows by default.
- 1928 BCP/Calendar rules — Easter, Advent, Epiphany and Trinity
numbering, Ember and Rogation Days, fasting, and the precedence questions that are still open.
- 1928 BCP/Sources and methodology — every source, what it
supports, and what has not been verified.
- Annual calendars for 2026-2035 and monthly planning pages (in the
data package; monthly pages are published only as their Office appointments are verified).
- Reusable Communion proper pages, with clean bulletin text first
and provenance afterwards.
The book used
The American 1928 Book of Common Prayer — not the proposed English 1928 book, not 1662, not 1979. Holy Communion propers are kept distinct from Daily Office appointments, and the original 1928 Office lectionary is kept distinct from the revised (1943/1945) lectionary.
Default lectionary
The revised Office lectionary (1943 revised, printed from 1945 onward) is the display default for this planner, as instructed for the initial version. The original 1928 lectionary is a separate dataset and is linked wherever it differs.
