Sources and methodology

Sources

  • SRC-1928-US — The American 1928 Book of Common Prayer (public
domain in the United States, 1928 publication).
  • SRC-JUSTUS-1928 — Society of Archbishop Justus, 1928 BCP pages
 (https://justus.anglican.org/resources/bcp/1928/BCP_1928.htm).
Used for the book's history and the two lectionary versions. Its
PDF extracts are stated by Justus to be unproofread; no extract
 is treated as scan-verified.
  • SRC-STANDARD — The 1928 Standard Book (Updike / Merrymount Press,
1930), the scan-verification target. Scan verification against
this printing is not yet complete for most records.
  • SRC-EPISCOPALNET-1928 — Episcopalnet 1928 BCP index and proper
 pages (https://episcopalnet.org/1928bcp/index.html). Used as a
cross-check for the proper list. Its own compilation and notes
are not copied; the site states its own rights reserved.
  • SRC-AW-1928 — Existing AnglicanWiki 1928 BCP pages, inspected
read-only (see the inventory in the data package).

The full source register, with URLs, editions, access dates, and rights notes, is in SOURCES.md in the data package.

Verification statuses

  • extracted — transcribed from a named source, not yet checked.
  • structurally_checked — passes schema, ID, and reference checks.
  • cross_checked — agrees with a second independent source.
  • scan_verified — compared word-for-word with an identified scan.
This status is used only where that comparison was actually done.
  • unresolved — cannot be established from the sources in hand.
Such records are excluded from the upload-ready pages and listed
 in UNRESOLVED_ISSUES.csv.

What was not copied

No modern proprietary ordo was reproduced. Dated appointments in the data package are derived from the rules stated on 1928 BCP/Calendar rules, not copied from a calendar website. No Missal rules and no supplemental saints were imported into the BCP-only profile. No liturgical colours are given in the core profile, because no identified 1928 BCP source for a colour scheme was established; any future colour scheme must be labeled supplemental and sourced separately.

Formatting

Prayer Book spelling and punctuation are preserved in liturgical text. Research annotations never appear inside liturgical text; provenance follows the text in a separate section. Pages use plain wikitext only: AnglicanWiki has Cite and ParserFunctions but no Scribunto, Cargo, or Semantic MediaWiki (verified 2026-10-24 via the public API), so no page depends on Lua or custom JavaScript.
