Other Masses of the Saints (Anglican Missal)
Work in progress: Other Masses of the Saints (H supplement), scan PDF pp. 1455–1594
Source: The Anglican Missal (London: Society of SS. Peter and Paul, 1921), "Other Masses of the Saints" (H supplement), scan PDF pp. 1455–1594, printed H1–H140, of the Internet Archive scan (Trinity College, Toronto copy), file ~/workspace/anglicanwiki-scripts/missal/drive-missal.pdf. This is a SEPARATE saints section, NOT a continuation of the E Proper of Saints: every page below is cited with its H number, and cross-references to the Common (F series) are preserved exactly as printed ("page F __").
The supplement is published as one page; the join falls at the "Feasts of May" month heading, so no feast is divided between the parts except where the book itself breaks a heading across the H26/H27 page turn (see the May 3rd entry).
PDF 1455 TITLE-LEAF CONFIRMATION (viewed as a 150 dpi rendered image, not from the text layer): there is NO separate title leaf for the H supplement. Printed H1 (scan PDF p. 1455) is itself a content page, headed "OTHER MASSES OF THE SAINTS", followed immediately by "FEASTS OF NOVEMBER / November 29th. / For ST. SATURNINUS, MARTYR".
CHARACTER OF THE SECTION: most entries are NOT full Masses. The usual pattern is a cross-reference to a Common Mass ("Mass ____, page F __, except:") followed by only the propers that differ (Collect, Secret, Postcommunion, sometimes Introit/Gradual/Alleluia/Gospel incipits or page references). Bare cross-reference entries are transcribed as exactly that — no proper text has been supplied for them, and none must be invented.
FORMAT: spoken/sung text plain; rubrics in italics; drop capitals normalised; line-break hyphenation joined; printed "Ry." transcribed "℟."; verse mark transcribed "℣."; Latin kept where the book gives it. Month headings are "== ==", each feast "=== ===", proper labels (COLLECT., SECRET., etc.) on their own lines. A page-break marker "" precedes each page's text, so every line can be checked against its thumbnail in the gallery below.
Rank and state letters after saints' names (B., M., C., V., Ap., Ab., P., K., D., E., and combinations such as B.C.D.) are transcribed exactly as printed. Expansions, where asserted, follow ordinary Roman usage and are not the book's own key, which was not found in this copy.
NO CHANT NOTATION: no staff notation was seen on ANY page H1–H140 in the full proofread. Words only throughout; nothing was withheld on that account.

And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying: Thy son liveth. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

The Lesson from the latter EPISTLE of blessed Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians. 2 Cor. 8. 9. BRETHREN: Ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for
your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. And herein I give my advice: for this is expedient for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be forward a year ago: now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have. For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not. For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want: that their abundance also may be a supply for your want, that there may be equality, as it is written: He that had gathered much had nothing over: and he that had gathered little had no lack.

GRANT us, O Lord God Almighty, that we, being filled with the spirit of thy blessed Apostle Saint Paul, may learn that pre-eminent knowledge of Christ Jesus: whereby thou didst wondrously teach blessed Anthony Mary to establish in thy Church new households of priests and virgins. Through the same. Commemorate Oct. of App. The Lesson from the former EPISTLE of blessed Paul the Apostle to Timothy. 1 Tim. 4. 8. DEARLY beloved: Godliness is profitable unto all things: having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the
Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. These things command and teach. Let no man despise thy youth: but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things: give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine: continue in them. For in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. Alleluia. ✠ The Continuation of the HOLY GOSPEL according to Mark. St. Mark 10. 15. AT that time: Jesus said unto his disciples: Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took the little children up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them. And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him: Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him: Why callest thou
me good? there is none good but one, that is God. Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. And he answered and said unto him: Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus, beholding him, loved him, and said unto him: One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. DEARLY beloved: Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world: and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be there with content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts: which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things: and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight, lay hold on eternal life.

O GOD, who for the succour of souls in the agony of death didst endue thy blessed Saint Camillus with singular gifts of charity: we pray thee that by his merits thou wouldest pour into our hearts the spirit of love towards thee; that in the hour of our departing from this mortal life we may be found worthy to overcome the assaults of the enemy, and to attain to the crown of everlasting glory. Commemoration of SS. Symphorosa and her seven Sons, MM., as in the Mass following. The Lesson from the first EPISTLE of blessed John the Apostle. 1 St. John 3. 13. DEARLY beloved: Marvel not if the world hate you. We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death: whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer. And ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him: how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
GRADUAL. Ps. 37. The mouth of the righteous is exercised in wisdom, and his tongue will be talking of judgment. ℣. The law of God is in his heart: and his goings shall not slide. St. John 15. 12. AT that time: Jesus said unto his disciples: This is my commandment, That ye love one another as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants: for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth.
But I have called you friends: for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Through. The Lesson from the EPISTLE of blessed Paul the Apostle to the Hebrews. Heb. 11. 33. BRETHREN: Through faith the Saints subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens: women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection: and others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: they
were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheep-skins and goat-skins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented: of whom the world was not worthy: they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. O GOD, the father of mercies, we pray thee, that like as thou didst raise up thy blessed Saint Jerome to be the defender and father of the fatherless, so we, which by thy spirit of adoption are called and are indeed thy children, may, by his merits and intercession, evermore continue steadfastly therein. Through. Commemorate St. Margaret, V.M. The Lesson for the EPISTLE from Isaiah the Prophet. Is. 58. IS it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily, and thy righteousness shall go before thee, the glory of the Lord shall be thy rereward. Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer: thou
shalt cry, and he shall say: Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; and if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon-day: And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones, and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

And, behold, one came and said unto him: Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him: Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God. But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him: Which? Jesus said: Thou shalt do no murder: Thou shalt not commit adultery: Thou
shalt not steal: Thou shalt not bear false witness: Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. The young man saith unto him: All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat: and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns: yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you, by taking thought, can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven: shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying: What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Through. The Lesson for the EPISTLE from the Book of Wisdom. Wisdom 10. 10. THE Lord guided the righteous in right paths, shewed him the kingdom of God, and gave him knowledge of holy things: made him rich in his travails, and multiplied the fruit of his labours. In the covetousness of such as oppressed him he stood by him, and made him rich. He defended him from his enemies, and kept him safe from those that lay in wait, and in a sore conflict he gave him the victory; that he might know that godliness is stronger than all. When the righteous was sold, wisdom forsook him not, but delivered him from sin: she went down with him into the pit, and left him not in bonds, till she brought him the sceptre of the kingdom, and power against those that
oppressed him: as for those that had accused him, she shewed them to be liars, and gave him perpetual glory, O Lord our God.

O how amiable are thy dwellings, thou Lord of hosts: my soul hath a desire and longing to enter into the courts of the Lord. ℣. Glory be.
COLLECT. O GOD, who didst ordain that thy Son should be lifted up from the earth, that he might draw all men unto him: mercifully grant; that, by the merits and example of thine angelic Confessor Saint Joseph, we may in such wise be exalted above all earthly and carnal desires, that we may be found worthy to attain unto him. Who liveth and reigneth with thee. The Lesson from the former EPISTLE of blessed Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians. I Cor. 13. I. BRETHREN: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of Angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge: and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity,
it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind: charity envieth not, charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth: beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail, whether there be tongues, they shall cease, whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
GRADUAL. Ps. 21. Lord, thou hast prevented him with the blessings of goodness: and hast set a crown of pure gold upon his head. ℣. He asked life of thee, and thou gavest him a long life, even for ever and ever. Alleluia, alleluia. ℣. Ecclus. 11. The eye of the Lord looked upon him for good, and set him up from his low estate, and lifted up his head. Alleluia. ✠ The Continuation of the HOLY GOSPEL according to Matthew. St. Matt. 22. 1. AT that time: Jesus spake unto the chief priests and pharisees by parables, and said: The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding, and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying: Tell them which are bidden: Behold, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it: and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: and the rem nant took his servants, and entreated them spite-
fully, and slew them. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he to his servants: The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment. And he saith unto him: Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to his servants: Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.
OFFERTORY. Ps. 35. Nevertheless, when they were sick, I put on sackcloth: and humbled my soul with fasting: and my prayer shall turn into mine own bosom.

The enemy shall not be able to do him violence, the son of wickedness shall not hurt him. Alleluia, alleluia. ℣. Ecclus. 45. The Lord loved him, and adorned him: he clothed him with a robe of glory. Alleluia. ✠ The Continuation of the HOLY GOSPEL according to Matthew. St. Matt. 10. 26. AT that time: Jesus said unto his disciples: There is nothing covered that shall not be revealed; and hid that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in
hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

The Lesson from the EPISTLE of blessed James
the Apostle. St. James 2. 12.
SO speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall
have judgment without mercy that hath shewed
no mercy: and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say
he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him? If a brother, or sister be naked, or destitute
of daily food, and one of you say unto him: Depart
in peace, be ye warmed and filled: notwithstanding, ye give them not those things which are needful to
the body, what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it
hath not works, is dead, being alone.
GRADUAL. Ps. 107. O that men would therefore praise the Lord for his goodness: and declare the wonders that he doeth for the children of men. ℣. For he satisfieth the empty soul: and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Alleluia, alleluia. ℣. Prov. 31. He stretcheth out his hand to the poor: yea, he reacheth forth his hands to the needy. Alleluia.
