Historical framing revision, 24 October 2026

The revised overview leads with the inherited male priesthood and episcopate and dates women’s admission as a modern Anglican change. Historical novelty is distinguished from the disputed theological question of legitimate development. Ancient deaconesses are treated separately. Current ACNA and REC rules are cited from their June 2026 canons. The overview has been condensed and linked to the thirteen-article series for detailed source examination. It does not claim that every ancient Christian group followed identical practice or that every deaconess was unordained. Suggested categories, not added automatically: Anglican ecclesiology; Holy orders; Ordination of women; Anglican history.
